Have you ever been doing something incredibly mundane, but you get a super deep revelation about it? Well that happens to me.. all. the. time. So, let’s have a short story time. 

Last year, I was gifted with the most amazing facial cleansing brush ever, a Clarisonic. Now, I had been eyeing this brush for quite some time (over a year). I had done all the research and finally brought it home for Christmas. I assumed that as soon as I unboxed it, I would be able to use the brush. Or at the bare minimum have to charge it for about an hour. 

So I get home, take the beauty, in all of it’s pink and grey glory out of the box ,and read the instructions. To my surprise, it is not charged and needs to be docked for a full 24 hours before the first use. *insert side eye emoji* 

As excited as I was to use my gift, I had to wait. 

I had to patiently wait for my gift to be prepared and prepped for my use. 

Patience. 

In a previous blog, we talked about unwrapping the gifts inside of us. Yes, we have those gifts but many times those need to grow, mature, and develop. How often do we rush the process? We get an idea and run with it - without allowing God to first instruct us. Using my brush before it had the proper amount of time to prepare could have caused damage in the moment or down the road. 

“For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?” Luke 14:28

There is a cost for not waiting on God. It can cost us peace, opportunities, and possibly some coins. So instead of rushing, seek Him for the next step. Don’t allow excitement for something new and different out weigh obedience to His instruction. 

Patience.

What if God is allowing that business idea/goal/plan inside of you to marinate just a little longer, so it’s ready for consumption? What if God is allowing you to remain single so you aren’t distracted when your future spouse realizes they’re missing out all you have to offer? What if God is allowing you to work for a difficult boss in order to develop you into the leader that you were created to be?

Let’s have a crockpot approach to life instead of a microwave approach. 

Some things take time. Trust the process and trust in the God who is bigger than the clock on the wall and the calendar in your mind. 

“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” 2 Peter 3:8
