New Seasons - New Challenges

Temperatures rise and fall.

Tides ebb and flow.

Summer turns to Fall. Fall turns to Winter. Winter turns to Spring.

Nature gives us such simple reminders of change and transition.

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

However with a constant focus on the next season, we can miss the present season.

Example: Recently, I went on a long run. What happens when I go on a run in silence, is that I begin to reflect on all my life decisions. (yikes) It was on this run that I realized just how much one area in my life needed an upgrade.

This, was not the problem. I’m all for self and life improvement. But what I began to do was romanticize the past. Thinking back to all the good times the last season had to offer. Conveniently ignoring those reasons I was praying for God to deliver me from that season.

God politely reminded me of those answered prayers and how he delivered me to THIS season.

THEN I began to vision cast. “Ohh Lord, when I transition from this season to the next I know you’re going to do xyz.” I’m decreeing and declaring God’s word over my future situation. *insert shout here*

Again, God politely reminded me of this:

Every season ushers in new challenges.

Every season calls for dependance on Christ.

Do not focus so much on the past and future that we completely miss what He’s doing RIGHT NOW.

Though now may be difficult: be grateful for everything, be anxious for nothing, and endure with the power of the Holy Spirit.

“For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.” Hebrews 10:36

Let’s not idolize the past or the future. Let’s put on the mind of Christ and see our present through His eyes.
